                Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will require a meeting ID and passcode for higher security and privacy. Admins can configure this feature per device, and it will be off by default. For organizations with a Teams Room Pro license, admins will be able to configure and require a meeting ID and passcode to join a meeting from a Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows, to ensure higher levels of security and privacy. This means that, if the IT admin has configured the room to use this feature, the room user is required to enter the meeting ID and passcode when tapping the Join button from the Teams Room calendar. 

When this will happen:

General Availability: We will begin rolling out in late April 2024 (previously early April) and expect to complete by late June 2024 (previously mid-June).

How this will affect your organization:

If the admin has configured the Teams Room to use this feature, the user is required to enter the meeting ID and passcode when selecting the Join button from the Teams Room Calendar.

What you need to do to prepare:

If you configure the room to use this feature, you may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.

IT admins will be able to configure a device XML setting and require a meeting ID and passcode for all meetings or for only private meetings. This setting is configured per device.

If you are not interested in enabling this feature in your rooms, no action is needed. This feature will be off by default.
