Summary
                Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android will require a meeting ID and passcode for joining meetings to enhance security. This update, associated with Roadmap ID 380747, will roll out from early March to mid-June 2024. Room admins can configure this feature, which is off by default.

For organizations with a Teams Room Pro license, the room admin will be able to configure and require a meeting ID and passcode to join a meeting from Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android to ensure higher levels of security and privacy. This means that, if you have configured the room to use this feature, the room user is required to enter the meeting ID and passcode when selecting the Join button from the Teams Room calendar.

When this will happen:

Worldwide, GCC, and GCC High: We will begin rolling out early March 2024 and expect to complete by mid-June 2024 (previously late May).

How this will affect your organization:

If you have configured the Teams Room to use this feature, the user is required to enter the meeting ID and passcode when selecting the Join button from the Teams Room Calendar.

What you need to do to prepare:

To configure the room, the room admin will be able to toggle on the feature under the Room Settings and require a meeting ID and passcode for all meetings in that room. This setting is configured per device.

If the room has a Teams Room Pro license, the IT admin can toggle on or off the feature under the Room Settings:

If you configure the room to use this feature, you may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.

If you are not interested in enabling this feature in your rooms, no action is needed. This feature will be off by default.
