| Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android devices will have a refreshed home screen interface, with a consistent look and feel with Teams Rooms on Windows. The update includes the addition of a current date and a room QR code, a new Help button, and up to six action buttons on the touch console home screen. Coming soon: Users will soon see a refreshed look and feel of the Teams Rooms on Android home screen, one that matches that of Teams Rooms on Windows, allowing users to engage with a consistent and familiar Teams Rooms interface, regardless of the Teams Rooms platform. This enhancement will be rolling out with the Teams Rooms on Android 2.2 release for all Teams Rooms licenses. When this will happen:General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High): We will begin rolling out late April 2024 (previously mid-April) and expect to complete by late June 2024 (previously late May). Note that there can be a delay between when features are released by Microsoft and when they become available on a device model and make. How this will affect your organization:In the upper left of the Teams Rooms on Android home screen where the time and room information are found, we will add the current date and a room QR code. The room QR code is an alternative to Bluetooth for proximity join and casting, allowing users to easily join meetings with the room system without forwarding a meeting invitation to the room calendar. In the bottom left of the home screen, a room tip will inform users that they can add the room system for meetings using their personal devices. This room tip will only be visible if the existing Bluetooth beaconing setting is enabled: In the bottom right of the home screen, we added a new Help button. On the touch console, the room calendar will shift to the right side of the home screen to align with the calendar on the front-of-room display. Also, up to six action buttons (increased from four) will be featured on the touch console home screen to help users easily discover more actions: In the More menu, users will see all available actions, not just the additional buttons. Users will no longer need to go back to the home screen to find the first set of buttons, for quicker access to common actions: What you need to do to prepare:This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. After the rollout, plan to update all Teams Rooms on Android devices in your tenant to the latest version through the Teams admin center. After your devices are updated, you can notify your users about this change and update your training and documentation as appropriate. |
